No driver has had more fun with the dirt-transformed Bristol Motor Speedway than Kyle Larson. The self-confessed dirt-obsessed racer is heading to Thunder Valley this weekend for the World of Outlaws Bristol Throwdown chasing another victory in the high-speed World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, April 22-24.
Larson drove a Super Late Model to a pair of second place finishes in the Bristol Dirt Nationals in mid-March, then shifted gears by driving his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy in the historic Food City Dirt Race, the first time the NASCAR Cup Series had raced on dirt in more than 50 years. Larson also competed in the Pinty’s Truck Race on Dirt in a Chevy
If fans did not know any better Saturday night at the 68th Annual Season Opener at the Knoxville Raceway, the World of Outlaws were in town as heard on KNIA. That was partially right as the Saturday Outlaws show was cancelled Friday morning due to rain, so Parker Price-Miller, Carson Macedo, Aaron Reutzel, Mason Daniel, and Sheldon Haudenschild all came to help the raceway open up the season, and just like any outlaw racer would do, it was Haudenschild who stole the $5,000 first prize with a last lap pass on Gio Scelzi to win his first career race at Knoxville, joining his legendary father Jac on the winner’s list. In the 360s, Jamie Ball led from start to finish to claim his first win for his new team. He told KNIA/KRLS Sports after going through some tough times during the offseason, he decided to go for broke and start from scratch.
