Hickory Man Arrested on Arson & Drug Charges from Nov. 2020

34-year-old Joseph Fuller Anderson of Lenoir-Rhyne Boulevard S.E. in Hickory was served a true bill of indictment by Hickory Police at about 11:15 Sunday morning (April 25) on two felony counts of burning personal property and one felony count of possession of a schedule I controlled substance. He also faces one misdemeanor count of second-degree trespassing. The charges stem from a November 2020 case.
Anderson was taken into custody Sunday at a big-box store on Highway 70 S.E. in Hickory. He was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $2,500 secured bond. Anderson was scheduled to appear in Superior Court Monday (April 26) in Newton with another Superior Court date scheduled today (April 28).

38-year-old Kasey Lea Hice of Graceview Place in Granite Falls was arrested by Hickory Police at about ten o’clock Saturday night (April 24) on one felony count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance and one misdemeanor count each of possession of a schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Hice was arrested as Officers investigated a suspicious vehicle at a convenience store on 2nd Avenue N.W. in Hickory. During the incident, Police found 1.8 grams of methamphetamine, 11 dosage units of Alprazolam, and drug paraphernalia.

38-year-old Phillip Neil Matthews, who is listed as a homeless person from Hickory, was arrested by Hickory Police at about 12:30 Monday afternoon (April 26) on one felony count of failure to appear. He reportedly failed to appear in court on a charge of felony possession of a controlled substance on prison or jail premises. The warrant for his arrest was issued in July 2015 in Haywood County.
Matthews was taken into custody without incident Monday at a big-box store on Highway 70 S.E. in Hickory. He was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $5,000 secured bond. Matthews is no longer listed as an inmate in Catawba County. An appearance in District Court was set for May 12 in Waynesville.

47-year-old Adam Shane Haire of White Tail Lane in Hickory was arrested by Hickory Police late Friday (April 23) on an outstanding felony warrant. He was wanted in Alexander County on a felony larceny charge.
Haire was taken into custody without incident at about 11:30 Friday night at a gaming establishment on 16th Street N.E. in Hickory. He was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $12,000 secured bond. He is no longer listed as an inmate in Catawba County. An appearance in Superior Court was scheduled yesterday (April 26) in Taylorsville.

25-year-old Tyler Sernard Fleming of South Ervin Avenue in Newton was arrested Saturday (April 24) by Newton Police Officers. He was charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. Fleming was detained in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today (April 26).
