Hickory Woman Killed In Crash, Newton Man Charged Aaron Lee Walker Hickory Woman Killed In Crash, Newton Man Charged January 26, 2021 Hickory Police are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred Monday (January 25) on Hwy 70 SE near Everett Chevrolet.  One person died as a result of the two car accident. A suspect has been charged in the crash. At approximately 1:30 p.m. Hickory Police responded to the scene of a traffic accident where the suspect vehicle traveling east bound crossed into the west bound lane striking the victim’s vehicle.  61-year-old Leisa Glenn White of Hickory was pronounced dead at the scene. 26-year-old Aaron Lee Walker of Baxter Drive in Newton was arrested by Hickory Police on charges of felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, possession of drug paraphernalia, and careless and reckless driving.

He was charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance along with two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and single misdemeanor counts of possession of schedule VI controlled substance, assault on a female, resist, delay, and obstruct an officer, and injury to personal property. According to information released by Hickory Police earlier this week, last Saturday officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of 327 U.S. Highway 70 SW. During the incident, police reportedly found 4.39 grams of methamphetamine, 1.23 grams of cocaine, 1.11 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Hickory Woman Charged With Habitual Larceny Erika Nicole Self Hickory Woman Charged With Habitual Larceny January 22, 2021 36-year-old Erika Nicole Self of 20th Avenue NE in Hickory was arrested Monday (January 18) by Hickory Police Officers. She’s charged with felony habitual larceny. According to information released this week by the Hickory Police Department, on Monday, officers responded to Dillards in Valley Hills Mall regarding a suspicious person. Loss Prevention at the business saw the suspect leave the business with unpaid merchandise. Self was arrested at the scene and brought to the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $10,000 secured bond. She is not currently listed as an inmate. A District Court date is scheduled for February 11 on a shoplifting charge, no upcoming court dates were listed for the habitual larceny count.

He’s charged with trafficking in cocaine and maintaining a place for controlled substance. Forney was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility this morning (January 21) under $100,000 bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today.

As previously reported by WHKY, he was arrested by Hickory Police Monday (January 18) on charges of statutory sexual offense with a child 15-years-old or younger, kidnapping, and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. Yanez-Basquez was taken into custody without incident as Hickory Police assisted The Rowan Co. Sheriff’s Office in locating a runaway juvenile who was in the City of Hickory. He was arrested just before 4 a.m. Monday at his residence.
