Executive Order No. 195 will take effect Friday (February 26) at 5 p.m. and will expire March 26th at 5 p.m. The Executive Order lifts the Modified Stay at Home Order requiring people to stay at home and businesses to close to the public between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. The number of people who may gather indoors will increase from 10 to 25, while 50 remains the limit for outdoors.

Two killed in fatal Catawba County crash

Updated: 12:05 AM EST February 18, 2021 Two people were killed following a fatal collision in Catawba County Wednesday morning, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol confirms.  Troopers said the collision happened at around 11:50 a.m. in Catawba County on Riverbend Road near Oxford School Road.   Officials report that a 2010 Ford Mustang, that was traveling west, crossed the centerline in a curve, and collided head-on with an eastbound 2007 Toyota Camry.   Troopers said the Ford was being operated by 53-year-old Bradley Joseph Koepnick of Statesville. The Toyota was being operated by 19-year-old Caroline Elizabeth Ervin of Claremont. Both drivers died at the scene.  There were no other passengers in the vehicles and neither driver was wearing a seatbelt, troopers said.

Thursday Morning COVID-19 Update: Modified Stay-At-Home Order Extended Thursday Morning COVID-19 Update: Modified Stay-At-Home Order Extended January 28, 2021 North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper Wednesday (January 27) extended the state’s stay-at-home order through the end of next month. The order requires people to be at home from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. A news release from the Governor’s office says face covering requirements and restrictions on individuals gathering in both indoor and outdoor settings are still in place.
