CVCC Split a Pair of Contests at NJCAA Division 2 Championships

The sixth-seeded Catawba Valley Community College volleyball team split its first two matches at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) DII National Championship on Tuesday afternoon at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse Arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The Red Hawks (21-3) won their opening match against No. 11 seed North Platte (Neb.) before falling to third-seeded Iowa Central in the tournament quarterfinals.

Gusmer Enterprises is a leading supplier of fermentation, filtration and processing aids and equipment for the beverage, food and pharmaceutical industries worldwide. A family-owned company for almost 100 years, Gusmer’s filtration and fermentations products are used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. The 135,000-square foot GMP manufacturing facility in Hickory will be Gusmer’s third plant and will support the production of filtering devices

North Platte Community College will continue their magical postseason run, after defeating Rochester Community and Technical College in the Northwest Plains Championship on Saturday afternoon, 68-63.
A 9-0 run over the final 70 seconds helped the Knights complete a comeback and secure a spot at the NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball Championship.
“I could not be prouder of our team and their fight today,” said head coach Jeff Thurman. “We had a great effort defensively and showed a lot of toughness against a very good Rochester team.
