Salisbury captured the 2021 Division III women s lacrosse championship, edging NESCAC power Tufts, 14-13, on Sunday evening in Salem, Va. The win marked the Seagulls fourth NCAA title in 12 years.
Tufts Catherine Lawless led all scorers with four goals, but Salisbury s balanced offensive unit saw six different players produce a multi-goal game. Julia Talbert, Riley Hartman, Delaney Hill, Lauren Valenti and Camryn Pepper (1A) all led the way with two goals apiece.
A back-and-forth affair, Salisbury jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Tufts stormed back. The Jumbos and the Seagulls entered the half tied at 6-all, but Salisbury stormed out of the break on a 5-2 run.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Brett Burton is a hero.
He saved the property from burning by using a garden hose and his cowboy boots. However, he burned his feet in the process.
Burton, who suffers from diabetes and is at high risk of infection, started a GoFundMe to help pay for medical bills.
His story caught the attention of Catherine Lawless, who nominated him for Pay it 4ward. Basically, saved his neighbor s property, put his own life on the line. I was astounded, she said.
Lawless said she relates to Burton. I um - I m feeling a little emotional here. Um - I lost my job. I lost my health insurance. And the medical bills - there comes a point where it s ridiculous to open them because you know. And you re struggling to keep your spirit up with cancer, she said.

if they re able to compete this spring.
Earning Media All-America honors last spring, Middlebury s Erin Nicholas posted four goals in three outings last spring, while also grabbing 16 draws, nine groundballs and causing eight turnovers. Earning first-team honors alongside Nicholas, Addy Mitchell is widely regarded as one of the top defenders in the nation. The senior caused six turnovers and picked up eight groundballs last season.
