MOUNT DORA A proposal for a parking structure in historic downtown Mount Dora was withdrawn last week, leaving the city without a solution to its parking problem once again. In May, the city council agreed to enter into negotiations with the developer, Downtown Parking Solution, for a multi-use parking garage project that would span the downtown block bordered by E. 3rd Avenue, Baker Street, N. Tremain Street and the railroad tracks. According to Mayor Cathy Hoechst, Gerry Guenther, principal of G3 Development and managing partner of Downtown Parking Solution, met with her last week to discuss parking solution options in the city.

Mount Dora ordinance to regulate loud noise emanating from vehicles

The City of Mount Dora has adopted a new ordinance that will regulate excessive noise coming from vehicles. The ordinance, prepared by Chief of Police Brett Meade and signed by Mayor Cathy Hoechst, went into effect on July 6. Under the new ordinance, unreasonably excessive noise is defined as sound that is plainly audible from a distance of 50 feet or more from the vehicle.
