CHICAGO, Ill. – “Blending Borders,” Cathay Pacific Airways’ newest Facebook contest celebrates the best of its home city – Hong Kong – and its newest destination – Chicago, where daily service begins Sept. 1st.
Using photography, illustrations, sculpture, metal works or other tastefully creative mediums, artists are challenged to “blend” iconic images from both cities and submit their entries via the airline’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cathaypacificus for a chance to win two roundtrip tickets to Hong Kong.
“Chicago and Hong Kong both have memorable skylines, a wide choice of well-known architectural landmarks as well as many famous moments in history to choose from,” said Eric Odone, Cathay Pacific’s vice president, sales and marketing, Americas. “There are lots of opportunities to show your creative prowess.”

As per the South China Morning Post, this decision is part of Cathay Pacific Airways’ review of its cockpit crew operations overseas. Based on the memo that the airline sent to its staff on Thursday, April 22, the company will also re-assess its American and European pilot bases before this year ends.
It was added that the flag carrier of Hong Kong will also begin the transfer of some pilots to Hong Kong and emphasized that this is voluntary. This means that Cathay Pacific will not be moving select pilots to its home base according to its decision, but rather, they can be transferred only if they want to.
