âA 69-year-old Bloomfield Township man, his 31-year-old son and a 32-year-old Waterford Township woman have been charged in Genesee County 67th District Court with conducting a criminal enterprise, forgery and obstruction of justice.
âThe three individuals are lawyers with the law firm, Fishman Group, in Bloomfield Hills, with additional offices in Florida and Colorado.
âCharged are Marc Allan Fishman, 69, of Bloomfield Township. He is president and CEO of Fishman Group. He was arraigned April 6 on one count of acquiring and maintaining a criminal enterprise and one count of obstruction of justice. He was lodged at the Genesee County Jail until his arraignment and released April 7 after posting $4,000 cash bond.

Genesee County’s first female captain works to achieve her goals

Genesee County Sheriff’s Capt. Kariann Nelson knows how to set and achieve goals set for herself.
Nelson, among others, was recognized for her accomplishments during a press conference held by Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson for Women’s History Month.
In February of 2020, Nelson was promoted to captain of the law enforcement division within the sheriff’s office. Before that she worked her way up the ranks starting as an EMS while in college. “That’s where I learned about the [Genesee County] sheriff’s office paramedic division,” said Nelson, “how great it would be to work here.”
New facility to provide education for any former Genesee County Jail inmate with a felony

FLINT, MI The Genesee County Jail’s IGNITE program will soon offer education and other support services to former inmates with felonies who have left the facility.
The IGNITE (Inmate Growth Naturally and Intentionally Through Education) program, announced in September, expanded the jail’s education program beyond just the ability to earn a GED.
Now, the sheriff’s office is expanding IGNITE again.
The program, which aims to break the cycle of generational incarceration negatively affecting families and communities, is made possible through the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office in partnership with Mt. Morris Consolidated Schools.
