Heavy rain and strong wind watches have been issued for the Canterbury High Country. The heavy rain warning, issued by the MetService on Thursday morning, is code orange which means people need to be prepared and take action as appropriate as there could be some disruption to their day and a potential risk to people, animals and property. The MetService said from 8am on Friday to 12am on Saturday, heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. Surface flooding and slips are also possible and driving conditions may be hazardous.
