Mid-Canterbury rugby officials will contact a spectator who allegedly hurled abuse at schoolboy rugby players, match officials and those on the sideline during a match in Ashburton. Ashburton College acting principal Jono Hay said the match was part of the “Pack the Park” event, which doubled as part of the Miles Toyota Championship at the school on Wednesday afternoon. The event, which was a showcase for young Mid-Canterbury players, featured Ashburton College s under-15 against Mt Hutt College under-15 in a curtain-raiser at 1.20pm, before the Mid-Canterbury Combined First XV played the Selwyn Combined First XV at 3pm.
