The ATF is one of several agencies investigating weekend fires at the Playland Castaway Cove in Ocean City and a recycling plant in Passaic.
Rides at the park were spared in Saturday morning s fire but the fire damaged the park s huge ship and parrot and three business offices. The fire also tore through Hamburger Construction Co., Dairy Queen and BrumeJuice, according to Brian Hartley, vice president of Playland Castaway Cove.
The ATF s involvement is not unusual for large fires, according to ATF spokesman Dylan Wiggins, who said a team was also deployed to Friday night s fire at the Atlantic Coast Fiber plant in Passaic.

A man from Florida, who, according to police, was driving a truck stolen from Maryland, was arrested in Maryland after fleeing from police in Lower Township.
Cops in Lower Township say at around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, Cape May County Dispatch was notified that a stolen truck was possibly in Lower Township, according to the vehicle’s GPS system. An initial investigation revealed the truck was originally reported stolen out of Perryville, MD.
Shortly after being notified, Lower Township Police found the truck driving on Gorham Avenue in North Cape May.
Once the registration was confirmed, Lower Township officers initiated a motor vehicle stop at the intersection of Gorham and Holmes Avenues. The driver refused to exit the commercial vehicle and would not communicate with officers on scene. Supervisors were requested and responded to the scene. 6ABC reports that five agencies are now involved in the investigation, including the Ocean City Fire Department Investigation Unit, Cape May County Fire Marshal’s Office, Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey State Fire Marshal’s Office and the ATF.
The reason given for the inclusion of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives National Response Team in the investigation is because of the size of the estimated loss.
Playland s Castaway Cove says it was storing some ride parts in the arcade building for the winter. No one was inside when the fire started, and the city says no one was hurt.
Death of Cape May County couple ruled a murder-suicide

Investigators believe Rick Ryan, 45, shot his wife, Kristin Ryan, 39, before shooting himself in their Villas residence, according to an announcement from the county prosecutor’s office.
Lower Township Police went to their Cardinal Avenue home Monday morning to “check the well being of the occupants,” the office previously announced, and found the bodies.
