HYANNIS In a new partnership, Cape Cod Hospital is now working with Boston Children s Hospital to give local families access to specialized pediatric care.
Boston Children’s physicians started July 1 to provide 24/7 medical services and clinical consultation for Cape Cod Hospital’s pediatric program, including its inpatient unit, newborn nursery and labor and delivery unit. The Boston physicians are also available for consultations for the Cape emergency department.
Michael K. Lauf, president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare that operates the Hyannis hospital, said the collaboration was made not only to provide access to more physicians and resources for high-quality pediatric care, but to limit the amount of travel Cape families will have to do to get care in times of crisis.
