NATIONAL NEWS - The Shoprite Group has opened bursary applications for Retail Business Management and Pharmacy students for the 2022 academic year.
Registered university students with a 65% aggregate or higher are encouraged to apply via the Group’s Bursary and Graduate Opportunities page before 30 June 2021.
Upon successful graduation, Retail Business Management and Pharmacy students will have guaranteed jobs at Africa’s largest retailer, with strong career growth prospects.
In the 2020 academic year, the group spent R17,3m on its bursary programme and supported 271 students, including 191 from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, of which 150 students are females.

DURBAN - Postgraduate students from universities across Africa have been called to showcase their skills and present innovations that could help develop the power and energy sector.
The Initiate Young Talent Challenge, a project from Clarion Events in partnership with the Enlit Africa event, will give postgraduate students a chance to exhibit their skills during a digital conference in June.
The exhibition will take place from June 8 to 9 this year.
“This is their chance to disrupt the industry with innovative and new ways of thinking. This is a unique not-to-be-missed opportunity to not only shape their future but also to start establishing a sound and professional personal brand, taking their careers to the next level,” said Nazlee Fredericks, leader of the Initiate project, in a statement over the weekend.
DA to probe Xanthea Limbergâs qualifications

Cape Town - The DAâs federal legal commission will investigate reports that Mayco member Xanthea Limberg claimed to have had a degree on her CV, while she currently does not hold one.
On Wednesday, the Weekend Argus exclusively revealed that Limberg submitted a summarised CV that stated she has a degree in politics and public policy administration from UCT and a BA degree in policy studies from Unisa. The CV was submitted to the partyâs provincial executive committee in January for her nomination as an executive member.
