More than 80 families facing eviction from a Southeast Austin apartment complex by the end of the month will not be forced out, after a vote by Travis County leaders Tuesday.
Since July 2, the families living at the Rosemont at Oak Valley apartments had been staring at a July 31 deadline to leave. Thirty days is not enough time, became a common refrain among dozens of residents who begged members of the Travis County Commissioners Court in their Tuesday meeting for more time and funding. I am scared of returning home on 31st and my keys won t fit in my door, resident Erica Cervantes said. I don’t have the means to move. This is unjust. I m a single mother, and I can t pay the expense to move to a new apartment so quickly.

AUSTIN, Texas The vice president of the corporation that owns the Rosemont at Oak Valley in South Austin is publicly addressing the evictions at the affordable housing complex.
Rosemont s management team served eviction notices to more than 85 families on July 2.
Patrick Howard is the vice president of the Strategic Housing Finance Corporation, the nonprofit group in charge of affordable housing in Travis County. He told KVUE that in 2019, Travis County purchased Rosemont.

Capstone Real Estate Services, which manages Rosemont at Oak Valley, a complex at 2800 Collins Creek Drive, informed the affected tenants Friday that they have until July 31 to leave their units.
