Angela Cole Westhoff chosen to lead Maine Health Care Association The board of directors of the Maine Health Care Association has selected Angela Cole Westhoff of Sidney to be the association’s next president and chief executive. She will succeed Rick Erb, who is retiring after 20 years with MHCA. Westhoff has most recently served as executive director of the Maine Dental Association and had held a similar position with the Maine Osteopathic Association. Wanda Pelkey, chair of the MHCA board of directors, cited Westhoff’s knowledge and skills as a terrific complement to an experienced and dedicated MHCA team. Emily Crowley

Four local teachers to get feet wet with S E A grants

(Photo courtesy Stewardship Education Alliance) CAMDEN Four area school teachers will be getting their feet wet this summer as a result of educational grants awarded by the Stewardship Education Alliance (S.E.A.), a year-old nonprofit working to increase community awareness of and efforts toward becoming better stewards of the Midcoast’s water resources and fragile watersheds.  Kisha Marsh and Deb McSweyne, both teachers at Camden Rockport Middle School; Germaine Koomen, a teacher at Children’s House Montessori School in Camden; and Sessa Salas, a teacher at Camden’s PeoplePlace school, have been awarded study grants for courses in aquaponics being taught this July at Herring Gut Learning Center in Port Clyde.

Source: Livestream On April 12 the Rockport Select Board heard a presentation by Bill Lane of Gartley & Dorsky Engineers of a proposed 28-space parking lot that would be built above Rockport Harbor, near the Goose River Bridge and the meeting point of Main and Central streets. The board also heard a presentation of the proposed SAD 28 (Camden-Rockport K-8) and Five Town CSD (Camden Hills Regional High School) budgets by Superintendent Maria Libby.
