Five workers netted in $4 million salmon swindle – Ingleburn
Five people have been charged over their alleged roles in the theft of up to 250 tonnes of salmon – valued at more than $4 million – from a processing plant in Sydney’s south-west.
In December 2020, police were contacted by the executive of a salmon farming and processing company in relation to possible coordinated criminal conduct of employees.
Detectives from Campbelltown City Police Area Command were told the company had conducted an internal audit, which revealed a significant reduction in the output of product through their processing plant at Ingleburn.
It was determined that on average, about 600kg of salmon product was unaccounted for each day.

Police are appealing for public assistance and have now released CCTV following a carjacking in Sydney’s south west last year.
About 1.30am on Sunday 20 December 2020, a 32-year-old man was driving his Hyundai Getz into a fast food outlet drive-thru on Gould Road, Eagle Vale, when he was approached by a man armed with a handgun. The man forced the driver out of the vehicle and drove away from the scene towards Dolomite Place.
The driver alerted nearby staff from the restaurant and police were contacted. He was not injured. Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Investigations are underway after a service station was robbed in Sydney’s south-west overnight.
Police were called to the business on Stranraer Drive, St Andrews, about 8:50pm (Thursday 24 December 2020), after an employee was threatened by a man armed with a handgun.
The employee handed the man cash and he ran from the scene.
Officers attached to Campbelltown City Police Area Command were alerted and have established a crime scene.
Police are now appealing for information to identify a man they believe can assist with inquiries.
He has been described only as being of Caucasian appearance and had his face covered with a black face mask. At the time he was wearing long black pants, a long-sleeved grey shirt, and a white NIKE-brand hat.
Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Sydney’s south-west yesterday.
About 8.40pm (Saturday 19 December 2020), police were called to a service station on Ballantrae Drive, St Andrews, following reports of an armed robbery.
Police have been told two men – one armed with a machete and the other wielding a hand saw – entered the store, before threatening an employee.
The armed men stole cash and fled the scene on foot.
The attendant was shaken though not injured during the incident.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced a search of the area.
