MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The Minnesota Twins have returned largely the same team that won the last two AL Central titles and added some accomplished newcomers to help fill a few holes.
For all the familiar spring optimism, the franchise’s historic fall failures loom large. Even Rocco Baldelli, as easygoing a manager as there is in the major leagues, won’t pretend to ignore that all-time-record 18-game postseason losing streak.

NEW YORK (AP) â The NHL has suspended Minnesota Wild defenseman Carson Soucy for one game for charging Arizona Coyotes forward Conor Garland.
The leagueâs Department of Player Safety announced the suspension Wednesday. Soucy will forfeit $23,706.90 based on his average annual salary, with the money going to the Playersâ Emergency Assistance Fund.

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The MSU wrestling team sent three wrestlers to the NCAA Division II Championships over the weekend for a very successful business trip down to St. Louis, Missouri for the Mavericks.
MSU leaves with three All-Americans including a national runner-up.
At 174 pounds, junior Trevor Turriff capped off his season by competing in the championship match. Turriff fell 8-2 to Abner Romero of Lindenwood finishing as the runner-up in his weight class.

NEW ULM, Minn. (KEYC) â The bar is high for the Minnesota Valley Lutheran boysâ basketball program, with an appearance in the section title the last two seasons.
So, when the group saw four losses over a six game stretch in February, something was going to change.
âWhat I was seeing, and what some of the other guys were seeing, we all talked about it and they said âYeah, weâre all in, weâre going to make these changes for the betterment of the teamâ,â head coach Craig Morgan said.

ALDEN, Minn. (KEYC) â Abbie Theusch is averaging a double-double for the Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons Knights this season.
The guard is an elite scorer with a knack for earning buckets any way possible, playing the game a certain way since beginning her high school career years ago.
âI think Iâve gotten more versatile,â she said of her game. âIâve acquired more moves when Iâm driving. Iâm able to see the court more, know where the openings are and dish to teammates when necessary.â
