Thiruvananthapuram: The mother of two daughters, who were allegedly sexually abused and found dead at Walayar in Kerala s Palakkad district in 2017, has decided to contest against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan from the Dharmadom constituency in Kannur.
The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has, in principle, taken the decision to back the mother in her fight for justice, announced Kerala Congress president Mullapally Ramachandran.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday suffered a jolt after a mother seeking justice for her two daughters whose bodies were discovered after being sexually abused announced she would contest against him from the Dharmadom .
Speaking to India Today, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan slammed the BJP and refuted corruption charges against his government. Accusing the BJP of misusing central agencies in the wake of elections, Pinarayi Vijayan added that they won’t be threatened. “Rule of law is still prevalent. We have courts to ensure that,” Pinarayi Vijayan said.
"When BJP has put up Indian democracy for sale, Congress has reduced themselves into goods that are up for sale. BJP is willing to shell out as much money as required, after all they have raised plenty of it," the chief minister told reporters.
