New Delhi [India], April 26 (ANI): Congress General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP KC Venugopal on Monday wrote to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath requesting him to provide better medical treatment to journalist Siddique Kappan, who has been in the custody of Uttar Pradesh Police since October last year. I would like to draw your kind attention towards the severe health problem being faced by Siddique Kappan, a journalist from Kerala, currently in custody under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, wrote Venugopal in his letter to Adityanath.

Thiruvananthapuram, April 26 : Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday urged people to maintain absolute caution as variants of the UK and South African virus have been identified in the state. We have been told that the UK and South African variant virus have been reported in April. Of the total cases now detected, 40 per cent are from these variants which includes 30 per cent of the UK strain, while 7 per cent is the double mutant strain and 2 per cent is the one from South Africa, he said after an all-party meeting here.
Participants at an all-party meeting arrived at a consensus not to impose a lockdown in Kerala but to have strict restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19, said Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday. Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the state, Ramesh Chennithala said, The all-party meeting has decided to not go for a general lockdown in the state, but containment zones will be declared in places where they are necessary. He said that the all-party meeting called for a curb to victory processions after election results are declared. On May 2 we have decided not to have victory processions in the state. The opposition demanded free vaccination in the entire state as soon as possible. Blood banks should be put on alert so that more blood is available to COVID-19 patients. The government assured that the issues we raised will be addressed properly, he said.
