However, many cattle have not had an opportunity to fully acclimate to cold weather this year due to unseasonably warm conditions and an open winter, according to Janna Block, Extension livestock systems specialist based at North Dakota State University’s Hettinger Research Extension Center. This can reduce the animals’ ability to tolerate cold, even on a short-term basis.

Free training sessions set for produce growers in ND

NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center will hold training on March 11. 9:34 am, Feb. 3, 2021 × The North Dakota Department of Agriculture has scheduled free training sessions for produce growers across the state. “Fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices and co-management of natural resources and food safety should attend,” said Doug Goehring, agriculture commissioner. “Attending a session will satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement that requires at least one supervisor or responsible party on a farm to complete food safety training recognized as adequate by the Food and Drug Administration.”
