It has been an interesting year of politics amidst a pandemic. Gov. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) decided to roll-back the statewide mask mandate created by former Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock, who termed-out and vied for a Senate seat. Gianforte’s move leans upon successful vaccine distribution which has seen supply-chain issues from the federal level – resulting in Gianforte urging President Joe Biden (D–Delaware) to increase Montana’s vaccine supply. The day after Gianforte announced the repeal of the statewide mask mandate, state medical officer Dr. Gregory Holzman submitted a letter of resignation. This all comes as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) encourages the populace to wear not just one mask, but two. Have You Changed Your Mind on Taking the COVID-19 Vaccine? [Poll] Two months ago, we asked our listeners if they would take the COVID-19 vaccine when it became available. Overwhelming, they said no. Over 1200 people took our poll, and 68% said they would not take the COVID-19 vaccine. We wanted to see if you have changed your mind. Please answer our poll question below: According to a recent Gallop poll, 71% of Americans say they are willing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. That is up significantly since September when only 50% of Americans said they would receive the vaccine. Here in Gallatin County, about 1300 people are receiving the vaccine weekly, and the Gallatin City-County Health Department hopes they can increase that number soon.
