Gallatin Co. residents can now sign up for COVID-19 vaccine updates

BOZEMAN â For residents who wish to stay up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination in Gallatin County, a new tool is available to receive those updates right on your phone or email.
According to a press release from the Gallatin City-County Health Department, this opt-in notification system will provide direct updates as Gallatin County moves through the vaccine distribution phases.
Notifications will include: - information on which phase we are currently in, who is eligible, and when we move into different phases - current mechanisms for registering eligible people to receive vaccines - other important vaccine distribution information Please note, this system is NOT for signing up for vaccinations, but rather to receive notifications on when and where residents can do so.
Where is the flu this year? According to data from the Montana Health Department, the state has not recorded a single case of the flu for the 2020-21 flu season.
Some believe it s because most people are masked up and practicing social distancing because of COVID-19. But others are asking the question: If that s the case, why have we not seen more improvement in the battle against the coronavirus?
NBC Montana quotes Gallatin City-County Health Department human services director Tracy Knoedler as saying, Providers have been testing, and everything has been negative so far. Masks may be helping, among other things, such as increased hand and surface hygiene and better overall awareness of disease transmission and prevention strategies. We are not out of the woods yet.
MONTANA - Gov. Greg Gianforte announced Tuesday that Montana was moving into Phase 1B of the COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan.
In Phase 1B, COVID-19 vaccines are available to Montanans 70 years of age and older, 16 to 69 years of age with a high-risk medical condition and Native Americans and other persons of color who may be at elevated risk for COVID-19 complications.Â
To date, 57,221 doses have been administered in Montana, and 9,408 Montanans have been fully immunized.Â

(UPDATE) Gallatin County Attorney Marty Lambert, who represents the Gallatin City-County Board of Health and Health Officer Matt Kelley, released the following message on Thursday afternoon:
The State of Montana is not a party to the R Bar case. The Attorney General may lack authority to âorder and directâ a county attorney to dismiss a case where a local government entity, and not the State of Montana, is the plaintiff.
