The Camogie Association has confirmed plans to redraw its 2021 fixtures schedule after 53% of clubs voted in favour of a split-season format, the inter-county leagues which get underway this weekend and All-Ireland championships taking place before the club window opens. The original proposal to start the camogie season with the inter-county leagues before switching to the club championships and then finishing off with the All-Ireland championships was strongly opposed by inter-county players. The Gaelic Players Association has welcomed the news following the results of the poll which was voted by 62% of clubs: “We thank the Camogie Association for taking the time to pause and reflect on the fixtures schedule and for their constructive engagement with us in the last ten days.”

Female GAA players are set to receive the same amount of funding as their male counterparts, Minister of State for Sport Jack Chambers has confirmed. As it stands, male players receive €1,200 from the state while female players just €400. Speaking on RTE Radio’s Today with Claire Byrne, Minster Chambers confirmed that male funding would remain at its current level with money for female players set to be trebled. The Gaelic Players Association has welcomed the announcement of an increase in funding for female inter-county players. Under the current model, 12-hundred-euro is received by male players while female players get just four-hundred-euro. Minister oF State for Sport Jack Chambers today announced funding of 12-hundred-euro for both female and male players. That would represent a 1.7 million euro increase from the previous figure of 7-hundred-thousand.
