‘There is no way I’m getting out of here?’ Kalamazoo County inmate asked parents before suicide

KALAMAZOO, MI The family of a 29-year-old man who died by suicide in the Kalamazoo County Jail on Dec. 17 continues to search for answers.
Chase David Dalton Lovell, of Galesburg, was taken into custody on Dec. 15 after allegedly starting a fire in his room at Ascension Borgess Hospital earlier that day. Lovell was arraigned in Kalamazoo County District Court on Dec. 16 on a charge of first-degree arson. His bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Monday, MLive reported that the suspect accused of murdering a 28-year-old Galesburg woman will stand trial.
Last December, police announced that charges would be brought against 24-year-old Chad Michael White of Kalamazoo in the case. The Sheriffâs Office had submitted charges of Open Murder and Felony Firearm against White in the death of Amber Walker.
Police had reported the discovery of a body at 35th Street and EF Avenue in Richland Township near Three Lakes. The body of Walker had been discovered in a nearby lake.

Kalamazoo County prosecutors on Thursday, Jan. 14 filed eight felony warrants against 27-year-old Jazmonique Lakendra Strickland.
Prosecutors said they have been in contact with Jazmonique Strickland’s attorney and she is expected to turn herself in early next week, although an arraignment date was not immediately known.

There were more than 70
non-fatal shootings and 13 homicides due to gun violence within Kalamazoo city limits in 2020. Overall, there were 14 homicides in Kalamazoo: three in Portage, two in Kalamazoo Township, one in Oshtemo Township and one in Richland Township, bringing the countywide homicide count to 21.
The total surpasses the previous century mark of 20 homicides in 2016. That year, 11 of the 20 deaths occurred during two mass killings one in February when Uber driver Jason Dalton shot and killed six people and wounded two others, and one in June when Charles Pickett Jr. drove his truck into a group of
