Sister in sibling pair charged in Kalamazoo double homicide headed for trial

KALAMAZOO, MI A woman facing charges in a Kalamazoo County double homicide is heading toward trial.
Tonesha Taylor-McMillon, 19, of Kalamazoo, had her case bound over April 27 to Kalamazoo County Circuit Court. She faces two felony counts of open murder and one count of first-degree home invasion.
Taylor-McMillon was arraigned Feb. 24 in Kalamazoo County District Court on the charges tied to the Dec. 29 fatal shooting deaths of Katoya McPherson, 33, and Floyd Brahsers, 36. McPherson and Brahsers were killed in the 3700 block of Parkside Drive, police said, at the Oak Tree apartment complex.

KALAMAZOO, MI An attorney for the former director of nursing at Lakeside Academy has filed a motion to dismiss charges against his client in the death of 16-year-old student Cornelius Fredricks.
Heather McLogan, 49, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse in Fredricks’ death, which stemmed from an April 29, 2020, incident at the now-closed residential youth treatment facility.
Fredricks died two days later in a Kalamazoo hospital as a result of “sequelae of restraint asphyxia,” meaning the teen was receiving a lack of oxygen and blood flow. After being rendered unconscious during the April 29 incident at the academy, in which he was restrained for 12 minutes af

KALAMAZOO, MI A man accused of sexually assaulting and killing 13-month-old Meilani Hart last summer at a Portage apartment will now stand trial.
Jacob Britton Emmendorfer, 27, is charged with homicide, child abuse and first-degree criminal sexual assault related to the child’s death. Emmendorfer’s case was bound over to Kalamazoo County Circuit Court on Wednesday, Feb. 17 by Kalamazoo County District Judge Richard Santoni.
