Boysen, one of four assistant chiefs at the department, was promoted Monday, March 8 to the role of deputy chief, the department announced. Boysen had been serving as assistant chief of investigations and collaborative policing at the department since January 2018. Prior to that Boysen had served in the role of captain in the community outreach and problem solving division for just shy of six years. He becomes the first deputy chief at the department since 2018.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says a 24-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree before rolling the car over. We’re told the driver sustained serious injuries in the crash and was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital. The crash is currently under investigation. Those with information in connection to the incident are asked to call KDPS at 269-337-8994 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.

The discovered fentanyl, 110 grams, was one of the single largest seizures of the deadly drug in Kalamazoo County, according to Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety investigators. Officers with the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team and a Crime Reduction Team found the items during investigations at the following locations: 3300 block of Lincolnshire Boulevard, 1300 block of N. Church St, 100 block of E. Maple St and the 800 block of Hazard St.
