Kalamazoo police arrested a 30-year-old Cass County man in the killing.
The shooting happened around 8:10 p.m. Police responded to several reports of shots fired on West Main, east of North Drake Road. Police found the unresponsive victim who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Police did not identify the suspect, a resident of Vandalia.
“Preliminary information suggests that the suspect and victim were acquainted, and it is a domestic-related homicide,” Kalamazoo police said in a statement.
A Kalamazoo home under renovation was reported having smoke at 1:30 a.m. according to Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) Fire crews responded and put out the fire at 1:30 p.m. leaving one firefighter with minor injuries.
