321,000 euro worth of drugs have been seized by gardai in north Mayo since the start of this year, together with over 12,000 euro in cash.
That’s according to the Garda Chief Superintendent in the county Tony Healy.
Speaking to Midwest News today the Chief Supt said this is a significant amount of drugs to have taken out of circulation in the area over a few weeks, and should significantly hit the product and cash of drug dealers.
The Mayo Chief Supt has today thanked the general public for their cooperation and the information they supply to the Garda Drugs Task Force and Community Engagement Gardai concerning suspicious drug activity in the county.
Moy Valley Resources has to meet its bills too and cannot pause commercial rent unless government intervenes
Moy Valley IRD has bills to pay itself and cannot simply wipe away the rent owed by its business tenants at the Quay in Ballina, according to the CEO of Moy Valley Resources, Annette Maughan.
Moy Valley Resources IRD is the landlord for the Quay Units and it’s a registered charity.
Annette was responding this afternoon to a call by a business man renting one of the commercial units at the Quay for a rent reprieve or cessation as his business is closed due to the Government imposed Covid 19 lockdown
ISSA honour three community garden groups across Connacht
Three community garden groups across Connacht have been selected for a prestigious gardening programme.
Ballina Karen Community Garden, Mayo, Trellick Community Garden, Galway and Rossinver Community Garden, Leitrim were granted a place on the Community Seed Guardian Programme by the Irish Seed Savers Association.
They are among Ten Community Garden Groups who will receive training and mentoring in seed growing and seed saving with experienced facilitators from Friday.
Due to current restrictions the programme will offer monthly webinars for the Community Garden Groups to learn and develop skills and knowledge in seed growing and seed saving.
Fire in Mayo graveyard brought under control by local crews Published: Monday, 22 February 2021 08:15
Fire crews attended the scene of a blaze which broke out at the Old Cemetery in Castlebar yesterday evening.
The Castlebar Fire-fighting unit was called to the scene and brought the fire under control.
When the unit arrived, firemen discovered that a tree had been set alight.
The fire was quickly extinguished but is understood that damage was caused by the flames and smoke to a gravestone within close proximity.
The incident has been reported to Gardaí in Castlebar.
