Brewers forced to drown sorrows as Christmas proves a damp squib
Rolling lockdowns continue to clobber Britain’s brewers, with many expected to go to the wall before the pandemic is over

Before the pandemic struck, Rupert Thompson, the owner of the Hogs Back Brewery in Farnham, Surrey, purchased a hangar to store a hop picker and a kiln. His plan was to grow his own hops for reasons to do with the environment, local history and connection to his community.
But the crisis forced Thompson to upend his plans for the business. During the summer, the kiln was transformed into a stage for music acts and the hangar became a temporary bar. Underemployed brewing staff also turned their hand to carpentry – making tables, chairs and benches.

After teaming up with The Theatre Artists Fund to raise money for people struggling in the performing arts industry, Beergooder has launched their Panto in a Box which contains four beers, some theatre snacks and a Jack and the Beer Hops story book written by award-winning panto director Johnny McKnight. It doesn t feel like Christmas until you ve heard their Christmas Time (Don t Let The Bells End) tune, and now The Darkness will be performing it live.
Streaming Of A White Christmas With The Darkness will be taking place at the indigO2 this Friday.
Expect plenty of festive merriment, tinsel, fake beards, snow and of course, catsuits and sequins.
The band released an album in October 2019, the unfortunately titled
Easter Is Cancelled.

Beavertown relaunches Tempus Project with pair of seasonal pours
Beavertown Brewery has renewed its Tempus Barrel project with a pair of new seasonal beers – the Chariot and he Rule of Three – pouring from 8 December.
The two new brews are the first of four regular offerings that will be created throughout the year, with a further 8 planned, seasonal releases in the pipeline.
The Chariot is a 5.6% Pilsner that boasts a bitter yet complex flavour according to Beavertown thanks to its 3-9 month maturing process.
The Rule of Three, a 5.8% mixed fermentation Saison, channels more floral elements according to its creator. It is a blend created from multiple barrels, each fermented using Beavertown’s constantly evolving house culture, offering hints of orchard fruit and sourdough.
