By Friday afternoon, Elsa had transitioned into a post-tropical cyclone as it swept up along the New England coast. However, it was still bringing areas of heavy rain and gusty winds across much of Maine. It was moving very quickly to the northeast at 35 mph, and as of 5:30 p.m., the center was about 65 miles southeast of Portland.
