Advisory issued as northern Arizona to see heavy snow Thursday night through Friday Mike Cruz and Kaila White, Arizona Republic
Some areas of northern Arizona were blanketed with rain and light snow early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service. The heaviest snow was expected Thursday night.
A winter weather advisory was issued for the high terrain of Yavapai, Coconino, and Gila counties including Prescott, Flagstaff and Williams from 11 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Friday, according to the weather service. Areas are expected to see 2 to 6 inches of snow.
Snow was reported along Interstate 40 from Ash Fork to Winona and on Interstate 17 as far as State Route 89A, according to the weather service. Travel was expected to be hazardous along I-17 and I-40 near Flagstaff and portions of eastern Yavapai, southern Coconino, and northern Gila counties.
