A 26-year-old suspect has been arrested and appeared in an Eastern Cape court in connection with the murder of a police officer earlier this month.
Warrant Officer Noxolo Mesilane s body was found hanging from a roof, with her hands tied behind her back.
On Tuesday, Fezile Somadlangathi appeared in the Flagstaff Magistrate s Court and will remain in custody until his next court appearance on 4 February 2021. The case was postponed for further investigation and a formal bail application.
Somadlangathi was arrested by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team on Sunday, said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Bonnie Nxumalo.

Fezile Somadlangathi (26) appeared at the Flagstaff Magistrate’s Court yesterday, 26 January 2021 and he was remanded in custody until 4 February 2021 for further investigation and a formal bail application.
The accused was arrested by the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation team on 24 January 2021 in connection with the alleged murder of Warrant Officer Noxolo Mesilane (41). The body of the deceased was found inside the house at Qhasa Village on 15 January 2021.
Further investigation led police to a soccer ground not far from the scene where her police vehicle was found abandoned. The body of a 28-year-old male was found slumped in the police vehicle.
