Go big or go home! The city of Palm Coast s second Touch-a-Truck event, on Saturday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. along Park Street in Central Park, will feature more than 30 vehicles from multiple agencies including:
City of Palm Coast Public Works, Stormwater, Utility and Fire Departments;
Flagler County Fire Rescue;
For the third time in two weeks, Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies and their crisis negotiation team talked an armed, suicidal man down from self-harm. (FCSO)
Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies were in a standoff with a 28-year-old man on U.S. 1 starting at midafternoon today, in the area of Cemetery Road nerar the county line. Traffic on U.S. 1 in both direction was shut down for 90 minutes, when the man was taken into custody.
“We have the suspect in custody. He was a fugitive,” a sheriff’s spokesperson said just before 5 p.m. “They attempted to do traffic stop on him. He stopped in the middle of the road and took himself hostage.”

Flagler County on Friday, April 30, successfully completed its first prescribed fire utilizing FireFlight equipped with an aerial ignition machine to set fire to 85 acres within Princess Place Preserve.
“This is a great success for us – the beginning of something safer and more effective for our (Land Management) prescribed fire mitigation program,” said Prescribed Fire Program Supervisor Mike Orlando, who is “burn boss” for the day. “And, the third time is the charm – we scheduled this two other times this year, but things outside of our control prevented it from happening.”
