Nathaniel Shimmel, 25, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Wednesday after facing a first-degree murder charge and the possibility of life in prison.
On Aug. 23, 2017, Shimmel called 911 and initially said a robber had attacked her, but later confessed to the crime describing the events in vivid detail. He told detectives Michele Shimmel confronted him at their home in Palm Coast, Florida, and asked why he was not looking for a job.

Dec 14, 2020 8:40 AM Palm Coast, FL - Flagler County deputies say three suspects have been arrested following an armed home invasion, while one suspect remains on the run. The Flagler County Sheriff s Office (FCSO) received a 911 call just before midnight on Saturday (December 12th) from a home on Prospect Lane. According to investigators, the call was an open line and dispatchers were able to hear an argument, but they were unable to speak with the caller. When deputies responded to the area, they found a silver Chevy leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Deputies then followed the vehicle until it crashed near Palm Coast Parkway and Colbert Lane, where multiple male subjects ran from the crash on foot.
