Georgia Fugitive Found Sleeping In Car With Multiple Narcotics, Dog

May 19, 2021 | 10:04 AM Palm Coast, FL - Flagler deputies receive a call about an armed man sleeping in a parking lot and end up arresting a Georgia man who was already wanted on a warrant. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) arrived at the parking lot of an ABC liquor store on Palm Coast Parkway on Tuesday (May 18) and found a vehicle backed into a parking spot with the rear concealed by palmetto fronds. When deputies approached the vehicle, they found 39-year-old Jason O’Kelly asleep in the driver’s seat with a firearm, a pistol-grip shotgun, wedged between the passenger seat and the center console, along with a glass smoking pipe. Deputies further noted that O’Kelly had a 130-pound Rottweiler named Marco sitting on the rear passenger seat. According to a report from FCSO, deputies woke O’Kelly up and told him to put his hands on his steering wheel. Palm Coast City Council sets July 27 to elect a new mayor

Holland resigned on Tuesday, saying she needed to focus on caring for her daughter. The council’s split was evident on Wednesday when it met to authorize a special election and deadlocked on the selection of Nick Klufas as an interim vice mayor, a motion which ultimately failed on a 2-2 vote. The City Council did unanimously agree on the process to fill the vacant mayor’s seat, including requiring that mayoral candidates must collect either 497 signatures on petitions or pay $1,140 to qualify to run for the office. The petitions must be collected between Monday and May 28. The qualifying week runs from noon June 1 through noon June 7.

Deputy Stamps and Deputy Jenkins arrived at his home on Crazy Horse Court in Palm Coast before paramedics to find a 60-year-old male laying on his bed with no pulse. FCSO deputies started performing CPR. The responding deputies then administered two shocks from their agency-issued automated external defibrillator, which resulted in the man regaining a pulse. Lifesaving measures continued while being transported to Advent Health by Flagler County FireRescue. He remains in ICU in stable condition.
