NBS Bank Cluster Manager for Centre and North Tryson Kalanda spoke on Thursday in Lilongwe during an orientation training for people with hearing disabilities. The Bank, through its Lilongwe Service Centre, trained members of Lilongwe Association for the Deaf in account opening, bank transaction charges, depositing and withdrawing money through the auto teller machine (ATM) and mobile banking, with the aid of a sign language interpreter.

World Vision Ghana supports farmers in Tempane District with irrigation facilities, improve children education By Jerry Azanduna MAR 17, 2021 Globally, more than 1.2 billion people do not get enough food to meet their basic nutritional needs and sub-Saharan Africa is not left out. But the situation in Tempane District of Ghana cannot be over emphasized. According to World Vision Ghana in 2019, 57% of households in Garu and Tempane Districts experience one or more ‘hungry months’ in a year. This situation affected more than 15% of children going hungry and this affected both their health and education. To contribute to solving the problem, World Vision, Tempane Area programme adopted the Household Food Security & Resilience Technical Programme which is aimed at ensuring all children especially the most vulnerable and their families improve on household food security.

Volunteers put together activity packs to help children in lockdown

LEEDS Trinity University community members have volunteered with Horsforth Children’s Services to put together activity packs for children in the Horsforth area to enjoy during lockdown. Danielle Roman, Charlotte Rainey, Rachel Rudman and Reverend Nigel Sinclair volunteered with Horsforth Children’s Services between last month, packaging 70 activity packs for children in Horsforth to enjoy with their families. The packs contained ingredients for children to make sweetcorn fritters and heart shaped biscuits, with some items donated by Kitchen Craft. The initiative also received funding from Horsforth Community Aid Project (HCAP), a partnership of local organisations who work together with Leeds City Council and Voluntary Action Leeds to support and provide care for members of the Horsforth community.
