COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - The Columbus County Sheriffâs Office is searching for a suspect wanted in connection to multiple larcenies, according to a Facebook post.
âColumbus County Sheriffâs Office Criminal Investigation Division is seeking the publicâs assistance identifying a male suspect who is wanted for multiple larcenies in the Riegelwood area. The male may be driving or riding in a green, older model Toyota car,â the post reads.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to contact the criminal investigations division at (910) 640-6629.

WHITEVILLE, N.C. (WECT) - A Columbus County employee has been arrested and charged with 14 counts of larceny and 14 counts of obtaining property by false pretense for using a county gas card for personal use.
Messiah Maurice Brown, 20, was arrested last week but the investigation started in November.
“In November, Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division initiated an investigation after being notified by the Purchasing Agent for the County of Columbus. The Purchasing Agent noticed questionable gas purchases on a county credit card. Investigators learned that a County of Columbus Maintenance Department gas card was unaccounted for.
