In a news release, Fort Myers police called the incident an accidental shooting where one child under 10 years old shot another child under 10 years old. The child that was shot died and the other child was medically treated and released. The shooting occurred inside of the vehicle stationed at the shopping center’s parking lot. The shooting took place just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Businesses in the area had to shut down, despite police taping off the area.
