Columbus Man Accused of Stabbing Woman Multiple Times COLUMBUS, Ind. A Columbus man is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail after police say he stabbed a woman multiple times early Thursday morning. Columbus police were called to a home on Woodlane Drive just before 3 a.m. Thursday. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed multiple times. She was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital and is expected to survive. Inside the home, police also found the suspect, 37-year-old Gregory Taskey. Taskey was arrested and taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of battery with a deadly weapon.

(WTVM) - Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital began distributing the COVID-19 vaccine to staff and patients, as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) coronavirus vaccine distribution plan. Tuesday was the first day of the hospital’s vaccine clinic for those who fell into the Phase 1A group of the plan. Dell Myers, 84, and his wife, Judy Myers, 75, were among those who received the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

Westport man arrested for DUI after driving the wrong way with a child in the car

Courtesy-CPD FB page COLUMBUS, Ind. – A Westport man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated Friday morning when, with a child in his truck, he nearly crashed into a Columbus Police Department (CPD) vehicle. At about 1:40 a.m., an officer saw a truck traveling north in the southbound lanes of Central Avenue near Seventh Street. The wrong-way driver, later identified as Anthony Harris, 43, of Westport, nearly struck the CPD vehicle. While speaking with the suspect outside of the truck, officers reportedly observed that his balance was poor and his movements were lethargic. A portable breath test allegedly showed his alcohol content at .147%, so police took him to Columbus Regional Health for a certified blood-alcohol test.

Ralph W. Rutan COLUMBUS, INDIANA Ralph W. Rutan, 79, of Columbus, died at 2:12 am, December 28, 2020, date, at Columbus Regional Hospital. Ralph was born December 27, 1941 in Bartholomew County, the son of Ralph G. and Ruth Marie (Swango) Rutan. He married Katherine (Purtlebaugh) on November 22, 1960, she passed on July 13, 2019. Ralph worked for Marsh supermarket for 43 years before retiring. He loved to attend church and travel. To friends and family, he was lovingly known as the Bible Thumper and an avid guitar player. Ralph enjoyed keeping company with his faithful friend, his dog, Fred. Ralph will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
