Hill, the former SA executive vice president who originally ascended to the presidency in January, was elected to the SA’s top spot in the organization’s first fully virtual election season. He ran on a platform to add more positions to the executive branch and improve student inclusivity in the SA. “I’m thankful for all the support and love that the campaign has received thus far,” Hill said. “I’m thankful to all the voters, even those who didn’t vote for me, for doing their civic duty. But I look forward to earning their votes throughout the academic year.”

That’s why we and other climate activists celebrated this past June, after months of organizing and agitating, when the administration at George Washington University committed to full divestment from fossil fuels, carbon neutrality by 2030, and eventually reversing the university’s entire 200-year carbon footprint. George Washington leadership aligned with science and acknowledged the need for society to transition off of fossil fuels as quickly as possible.

A former candidate for Student Association president is again vying for the role on a platform to increase representation on campus for marginalized groups and create more avenues for the SA to build relationships with students. Christian Zidouemba, a junior studying international business and international affairs, is centering his run this time around on adding internal roles, like SA director positions to support marginalized students, and pushing for professional development opportunities, like a mentorship program with alumni, he said. Zidouemba said since his last campaign, he has spent time learning the SA bylaws and speaking with top officials about his platform points.
