The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services reported the first known U.K. coronavirus variant COVID-19 case in Boone County.
The coronavirus variant called B.1.1.7 was first detected in the United Kingdom in December and has since become the most common strain of the virus in the United States.
The health department has completed case investigation and contact tracing for the positive patient. However, no other information about the patient has been released because of privacy concerns.

The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is reporting 14 new COVID-19 cases.
There are currently 110 active cases in the county, an eight case increase from Thursday.
The county now has a reported total number of COVID-19 cases of 18,031.
The county has reported the total number of cases removed from isolation is 17,836.
The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services dashboard has reported the latest five-day average as 20.
The dashboard is reporting the positivity rate for March 26 through April 1 is 7.7%. For the week of April 2 through last Thursday, the county has a positivity rate of 16.8%.

COLUMBIA - The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Human Services is administering COVID-19 vaccines to restaurant and bar employees at the Blue Note Friday until 5 p.m.
The Blue Note was the site of a vaccination event, hosted by the Columbia/Boone County health department, for restaurant, bar and entertainment industry workers.Â
They will be distributing the Moderna vaccine and had 250 appointments available. On Thursday, the health department had about 80 appointments left, so the clinic was opened to anyone 18 years old or older, who lives or works in Boone County. Around 220 were filled, after it opened to anyone.Â
