The Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Senior Services will open vaccination appointments Monday at 8 a.m., the department announced on Friday. Only those who live or work in Boone County, and are in an eligible tier, may schedule an appointment. Eligible tiers include Phase 1A and Phase 1B Tiers 1, 2 and 3. Phase 1B-Tier 3 will open on Monday. The first round of appointments will be available from Monday, March 15, to Saturday, March 20.  Eligible Boone County residents can schedule their appointment at CoMo.gov/CovidVaccine. The state of Missouri is moving into Phase 1B Tier 3 of vaccine distribution on Monday, which includes several groups like K-12 educators, childcare workers, and government employees.

FRIDAY UPDATES: Boone County uses 1,802 out of 2,300 vaccine doses during today’s event Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services reported giving 1,802 coroanvirus vaccine doses to eligible residents from throughout the state at today s event. There are 498 doses left from today s allotment and will be used for individuals who are homebound or the doses will be redistributed to local vaccinators in Boone County. Sara Humm with the Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services says there were a large number of people that no-showed their appointment today. The organization asks that if folks sign up at multiple locations that they please be sure to cancel any unneeded appointments ahead of time.

Event organizers said any leftover open vaccine vials will be given to people in the available tiers on a standby list. UPDATE: 1,802 doses of vaccine were administered at Friday s vaccination event, Columbia/Boone County Department of Public Health and Senior Services spokesperson Sarah Humm said in a statement Friday. The county had 2,300 doses available. Remaining doses will be given to homebound individuals and local vaccinators. Humm said they experienced a large number of people not show up for their appointment.  We ask if folks sign up at multiple locations that they please be sure to cancel any unneeded appointments ahead of time. This not only simplifies the process for our local vaccinators, but it also helps get vaccine into the arms of people who need it, Humm said.
