The Columbia Public Works Department will soon construct a new Columbia Fire Department station in the south end of the city and is seeking the public s input on its design.
The department will hold a meeting 5:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Columbia CIty Hall in conference rooms 1A/1B.
Citizens can review preliminary plans, make comments, ask questions and complete a public comment form during the meeting, the department said.
A preliminary design of the 10,000-square foot station includes three apparatus bays, training and exercise areas, sleeping and living areas for crews and a police sub-station area.
The location of the new station is planned at Scott Blvd. just north of Montauk Court.
