Columbiana councilman Richard McBane brought his huskies, Oden and Malliag, to enjoy the nice weather and support the installation of a dog park at Firestone Park during Saturdayâs Bark in the Park.
Seth Seese from Columbiana walked his dog Copper to Bark in the Park. Roscoe was there collecting donations for the Columbiana County Humane Society. Roscoe was with Erica Rice, the new humane agent. A free community event, Bark in the Park raises awareness and funds for theFirestone Dog Park. FDP is part of ongoing efforts by the Restoration and Beautification Committee of Columbiana to enhance the outdoor experience of Columbiana’s residents and visitors alike. Named after Harvey S. Firestone, the community dog park will include:
YOUNGSTOWN Andrew Boyer, a senior majoring in computer digital electrical engineering at Youngstown State University, is the winner of this year’s John Burgan Entrepreneurship Prize and will receive $2,400 to help continue his start-up lighting, sound and networking technology business.
The John Burgan Entrepreneurship Prize is awarded to the winner of the YSU Williamson College of Business Administration’s Entrepreneurship Center Business Plan Competition, which seeks innovative business ideas from students. The prize was created in honor of entrepreneur, businessman, salesman and community leader John Burgan by his son, Patrick, a YSU graduate and second-generation broker-owner of Burgan Real Estate.

LISBON An April 12 preliminary hearing and pretrial was set in county Municipal Court for Amberlina N. Gentsy, 26, Monaca, Pa., charged with felonious assault and failure to comply with a police officer, both felony charges, along with misdemeanor citations of OVI first offense, left of center and marked lanes. Gentsy allegedly continued on state Route 172 near Depot Road, going left of center nearly striking other drivers head on several times and nearly going off the roadway while fleeing from deputies on Saturday. She then reportedly struck the rear of a deputy’s cruiser that slowed in front of her at the intersection of state Route 154 and 45.
