One year into the pandemic, Gov. Jared Polis has stood in front of television cameras hundreds of times, more frequently than maybe any Colorado governor in history. And each time he’s addressed the state to release new data, provide updates, and implore Coloradans to stay safe, he’s known exactly who his closest observer will be. 

More Than $1 5 Million in Micro-Grants Aids Colorado Governments

Posted on 8208 Colorado SIPA is excited to announce the 2021 micro-grant recipients. Out of a pool of 92 applications, 33 governments received funding, totaling more than $161,000. The Colorado Statewide Internet Portal Authority (SIPA) has a long history of providing micro-grants for Colorado governments. Since 2010, more than 280 grants and $1.5 million have been awarded to government entities across the state. These micro-grants focus on assisting governments to increase adoption, usage, and safety of online services by placing more information and services online for residents. “These public-facing projects have the potential to bring incredibly positive benefits to communities from all around our great state. SIPA and its Board of Directors are honored to help Colorado governments use technology to connect with their residents,” said Ajay Bagal, SIPA’s Executive Director.

Colorado looks to lease firefighting helicopter as part of legislation aimed at stopping wildfires before they grow

A bipartisan bill soon to be introduced in the state Legislature would fund a specialized helicopter to fight fires fast, while they are still small. State Sen. Bob Rankin, R-Carbondale who represents Senate District 8, including Summit County is a prime sponsor on a package of bills meant to address wildfire prevention, one of which would fund a Firehawk helicopter.
