A body was found Monday evening near the scene of a structure fire located at the 0000 block of West Cheyenne Road, according to police.
At around 5:40 p.m. the Colorado Springs Fire Department started receiving reports of heaving smoke conditions coming from a a single family residence.
While fighting the fire, crews from CSFD located a body near the residence, according to police.

Since the cause of death did not appear to be related to the fire, the Violent Crimes Homicide and Assault Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation, police said.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) All northbound and southbound lanes of Circle Drive at Winnepeg are closed while crews work on a structure fire in the area.

At 4:44 p.m., CSFD reported crews had the fire knocked down and they were searching for any hidden fire.

Fire crews respond to grass fires in Colorado Springs Saturday Published

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) Crews with the Colorado Springs Fire Department worked to put out multiple grass fires Saturday afternoon.
Crews responded just before 2:30 p.m. to a 10x50 grass fire in the area of Tejon and I-25.
According to the Colorado Springs Fire Department, smoke could be seen in the area, but no structures were threatened.
Not long after, crews also responded to another grass fire nearby.
