Crews sent to rescue three hikers in Cheyenne Mountain State Park Published
CSFD
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) Three people are being rescued about six miles up a trail at Cheyenne Mountain State Park.
UPDATE:
CSFD says all three hikers have been successfully rescued. None of the hikers needed to be taken to the hospital.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is assisting the rescue with dirt bikes, as the trail is only accessible by foot or bike. Colorado Springs Fire Department estimates the hikers will be down around 8 P.M.
At this time, CSFD says the hikers do not have any physical injuries, but they did not feel well enough to make it down the mountain.
Firefighters, including a high-angle rescue team, came to the aid of three hikers at Cheyenne Mountain State Park on Sunday.
The hikers encountered a medical issue about 2 1/2 miles up a trailhead according to Capt. J.J. Halsey, public information officer for the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
Firefighters treated the hikers, who were able to walk all the way down, Halsey said.
The state wildlife department and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station assisted in the response, he added.
