A damaged liver has irregular bumps, known as nodules, and the organ hardens.
Early warning signs of cirrhosis include feeling unwell and tired all of the time, a loss of appetite and weight loss.
Other warning signs include nausea and vomiting, tenderness in the liver area, and spider-like small blood capillaries on the skin above waist level.
Furthermore, a person with cirrhosis may have blotchy red palms, and may have disturbed sleeping patterns.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) may be damaging the life-supporting organ without your knowledge. Non-alcohol related fatty liver disease is caused by excess triglycerides - a type of fat. If you re carrying too much fat in your liver, fluid build-up can become physically visible. The British Liver Trust stated: There should be little or no fat in a healthy liver. In the early stages of the condition, known as steatosis, no inflammation or scarring occurs.
Cirrhosis is scarring of the liver. The scar tissue prevents the liver working properly.
Fatty liver disease doesn’t usually cause any symptoms, but when it does, signs may include fatigue and pain or discomfort in the upper right abdomen, advises Mayo Clinic.
Some individuals with fatty liver disease can develop nonalcoholic steatohepatitis, an “aggressive” form of the condition, it adds.
