Mayor awards Moffat funds

Staff Writer memara@fortfrances.com Fort Frances Mayor June Caul announced the Moffat Family Fund recipients last week during the Committee of the Whole meeting. The fund, organized and given by the Winnipeg Foundation, allocated $93,750 to organizations in the community with the aim of supporting and advancing the economic, social, physical and intellectual well-being of children and families in the community. The first recipient is KidSport Fort Frances, an organization that Caul said receives 100 applications per year from low income families requesting financial support to help with the cost of sport registration and equipment. KidSport Fort Frances is one of the 166 community chapters across Canada, Caul said.
